From paper to engineering, I am obsessed with things that fold!
Origami is the ancient Japanese art of folding paper with only 2 rules:
1. No cutting
2. No gluing (unless for shaping)
While traditional origami such as a simple paper crane may only serve as an abstract representation of it's real life representation, modern complex origami can have 100's and even 1000's of folding steps to achieve hyper-realistic models!
Currently I only have 1 design released, however I'm hoping to eventually create more! I'm still learning the nuances of crease pattern design.
Through the Mirror was an experimental box-pleated model piece designed in 2024 with the aim of creating two hands touching via a reflection in a mirror. A long flap on either side of the model was used to create a mirror frame.
Paper made from homemade Ash and Abaca pulp
I make nearly all the paper I fold with using tissue paper! This process involves gluing multiple layers together to form a single sheet!
I have also begun to explore making my own my paper from raw materials such as Abaca and even making my own pulp directly from woods like Ash and Oak!
